Where Can They Be Used?

As mentioned gas wall heaters can be used in any room in the home. As they can be mounted on the wall they can be put in a position that keeps them away from children and animals. The fact that they can be wall mounted also means that they are much easier to install the many other types of heating system. Many people will use gas wall heaters in family rooms, dining rooms and kitchens.

It is also possible to use gas wall heaters in garages and shops. As they can heat up an area quickly they are really useful and will not waste fuel as they can be instantly turned off. When you are buying a gas wall heater you need to make sure that you are buying one that is right for the size of room you will be putting it in. As you will notice there are different sizes of heaters and these are suitable for heating different sized areas. So before you buy a gas wall heater you will need to measure up the room that it will be used in and calculate the exact size of heater that you will require.

Vented VS Ventless

There are two main types of gas wall heaters and these are vented and ventless or unvented, as they are also known. Both of these require different installation and both have their pros and cons.

Vented heaters will have a duct that is attached to them that connects to an exhaust valve located on the heater. This duct will then be used to vent harmful chemicals such as carbon dioxide outside of the building. In order to install this kind of heater you will need to make sure that there is space on an outside wall to fit it. As you would think this means that a vented gas heater is not as portable as one that is unvented as it needs to be fitted to a wall and will remain in place.

Unvented heaters do not have an outside duct, which means that any byproducts that are created when the heater is being used will be allowed to circulate around the room. While many of the new wall mounted gas heaters have an oxygen depletion sensor. This works by shutting off the heater if it detects that there is too little oxygen in the room. Obviously if you are thinking of buying an unvented heater you need to make sure that you get one with this kind of sensor.

You will probably find that old gas wall heaters that are unvented do not have this safety sensor and are likely to be illegal in your state. In fact there are many states that still will not allow unvented heaters in people's homes. So it is vital you check this out before you buy a gas wall heater for use in your home.
